Business Visa

  1. Passport: Original Passport with validity of minimum three months (from the date of return) and minimum two blank pages for visa stamps.

Covering Letter : Covering Letter from the applicant on company’s letter head stating his name, designation, passport number, purpose and duration of visit along with the outline of the applicant's itinerary and name and address of the company he or she intends to visit. The letter should be signed by authorized signatory with company stamp and addressed to – The Visa Officer, Embassy of The Netherlands, Delhi

  8. Invitation Letter –letter from the Dutch company or organization containing the Name of the applicant, Dates of the intended stay, Purpose of the visit, and Nature of costs being covered (boarding and lodging).

  9. Airline Reservation : Return ticket

  10. Medical : Medical travel Insurance for the stay duration amounting to 30,000 Euros

  1. New Procedure for Schengen Visa Applications:

Indian citizens travelling to Schengen countries for short-term (max 90 days in 180 days) will have to visit VFS visa application centre personally to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photograph). For subsequent applications within next 5 years the biometric data will be copied from the previous visa application included in the VIS.


  1. There are certain exemptions as follows:
       • Children under 12
       • Persons for whom the collection of fingerprints is physically impossible
       • Sovereigns and other senior members of a royal family, Heads of State and members of the national Governments with their official delegations and spouses) if they travel for official purposes.

  6. Airline Reservation : Return ticket is required.

  7. Proof of Accommodation : Hotel confirmation for the entire period of stay in Schengen area. 
    Please Note: Hotel should match the ticket dates and maximum stay should be Netherland

  8. Medical : Medical travel Insurance for the stay duration amounting to 30,000 Euros
    Please Note : Insurance has to be done by the authorised companies 

  9. Financials 
    a) Personal ITR for last 3 years / Form 16A 
    b) Personal Bank Statement for last three months 
    c) Salary slips for last three months 
    d) Record of ownership of real estate, share certificates, deposits, investments

  10. Proof of Employment: if employed:original leave letter on company's letterhead. If self-employed: Company registration copy/memorandum and company's financial documents. Students:  Original NOC from school college with ID card copy.

    If you are under 18, you must also submit 
    a) A written consent and signatures on the visa application form by both parents. 
    b) A copy of the parents’ passports should be included to authenticate the signatures on the consent letter (Rs.100 stamp paper with Notary). 
    d) Copy of the death certificate or custody proof should be provided, if applicable. e)Birth Certificate.

They should then submit it to the Dutch municipality (Town hall) where they are registered. Municipality will legalise the form. The form is then valid for 3 months.

  11. c) Resident permit copy Residence permit should be valid for at least 3 months after departure from Schengen (in case of referee being a non-Dutch national)

Seamen Visa

Seamen/Blue Carpet Visa Facility:

Blue carpet visa facility is provided by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands/The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Only seamen who are nationals from a country with a visa requirement to enter the Schengen space and who intend to join a ship in a Dutch port. This visa is valid up to 5 days.

Documents required:

Covering Letter : Original Covering Letter from Indian recruiting company on company’s letter head stating Seaman’s name ,passport details, Date of joining the vessel, Vessel's name , rank in the ship, date of arrival and departure at the port in The Netherlands, Name and address of the handling agents in The Netherlands, Name and details of the ship broker at the port of boarding and duly signed by authorized signatory and addressed to – The Consulate General of The Kingdom of The Netherlands, Mumbai

  7. Letter of Guarantee/Invitation: A letter of invitation from the shipping company/agents in The Netherlands on a letter head stating Seaman’s name ,passport details, date of joining , vessel's name , rank  , ETA & ETD of the vessel , letter should be duly signed by authorized signatory and addressed to – The Embassy of The Netherlands, New Delhi.

  8. Travel itinerary: One way travel reservation to Schengen area.

  9. Original CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate): Photocopy of all used pages containing information and stamps (please bring both the original and the photocopies to the appointment. Orange Carpet Visa

1)Passport: Original passport, must not be older than 10 years and valid for at least three months longer than the intended stay. The passport should have at least two blank pages to affix the visa. Passports with observations regarding the front data page will not be accepted.  Attach all your old passports (if any).

3)Photographs: Two recent photographs in the size of 35 X 45 mm width with white background. The face should cover 70% of the photo area.

4)Covering letter: Covering letter in original from the Indian company or organization of the applicant, signed by one of the authorized staff members that are registered with the Embassy/Consulate General, stating at least: a) The applicant's identity; b) The purpose of the journey (meetings, conferences, training or business related events); and c) The period and place of intended stay. Covering letter should be addressed to ‘The Visa Officer, Embassy of Netherlands, New Delhi’. Letter should contains OCVF registration number.

5)As part of the Orange Carpet Visa Facilitation the necessity of having to show a confirmed flight reservation, medical insurance and hotel reservation is waived. However, in case of a spouse and/or children accompanying the employee on his/her business trip for tourism or family/friends visit purposes, the following documents have to be attached to the applications of the spouse and/or children:                     

a)Insurance: Copy of overseas medical insurance policy, including medical emergency evactuation cover (equivalent to 30,000 Euros), corresponding with the desired periode of stay.  the authorised companies only                                                                                                             

b)Ticket: Copy of airline reservation or PNR                                                                                 

c)For Minor: If the applicant is a minor(younger than 18 years) o If the minor is travelling with only one parent, written consent certified by public notary of the other parent or guardian, except in cases of a parent having sole custody or guardianship of the minor. If the minor travels alone (without parents), written consent, certified by public notary, of both parents or guardians having custody or guardianship of the minor. Copies of the passport of the parents.  birth certificate of the applicant and copies of the ID cards of the parents.

Note: Applications for business visa of employees of companies that are registered with the Embassy in New Delhi and the Consulate General in Mumbai as being eligible for the Orange Carpet facility can be submitted at the VFS Netherlands Visa Application Centers in Mumbai, New Delhi, Jalandhar, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Kolkata without any prior appointment.

The applications will be accepted on weekdays, from 09:00 to 10:00 hours only.

Mvv / Long Stay Visa

A long-stay visa (type D) is issued to certain third-country nationals who intend to stay longer than 90 days in one Schengen state.

If you wish to stay in the Netherlands for longer than 90 days, you may require a long-stay visa. In the Netherlands this document is known as an ‘authorization for temporary stay’ (machtiging tot voorlopig verblijf (MVV)).

  4. Photo Specification: Two recent passport size coloured photographs with matt or semi matt finish, 70% face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm)
    For Chennai: Two recent passport size coloured photographs with glossy finish, 70% face coverage, white background and without border (Size: 35mm x 45mm)
    Please note: Photograph should not be more than 3 months old,scanned/stapled and should not be used in any of the previous visas

  5. Covering Letter : Covering Letter from the applicant on company’s letter head stating his name, designation,passport number, purpose and duration of visit. The letter should be signed by authorized signatory with company stamp and addressed to – The Consulate General of The Kingdom of The Netherlands, Mumbai

  6. Copy of MVV / Work Permit-approval copy has to be obtained Netherlands immigration

  7. Certificates: 
    a) Legalised Original Birth Certificate (For dependent child)
    b) Legalised Original Marriage Certificate (For dependent spouse)
    c) Original and Copy of Education & Experience certificate.

  8. Proof of Occupation 
    a) Copy of Employment letter

  9. Medical : Original Medical travel Insurance for the entire stay duration in Netherlands.
